The Tribes and Nations Easter eggs page has been the place to go over the years for Fairtrade Easter. You can download their Easter egg order form at their website.
They have:
- Divine Milk Mini 170g in bag (42 eggs) $10
- Divine milk choc hollow egg w 13 mini eggs $14
- Dubble Easter Egg Hunt Kit in carton $8
- Chocolatier Dark 100g egg in box $10
(2) Oxfam Shop
Oxfam Shop Online and their physical stores have a pretty huge range of Easter eggs and Fair Trade Easter-themed goodies this year.
They have:
- Chocolatier 100g eggs
- Oxfam mini eggs
- Chocolate bunnies from Chocolatier and another brand
- A whole heap of Easter-themed toys and trinkets
There is an entire page of products here – I recommend visiting their page and having a browse.
(3) Lindsay and Edmunds ???
FTAANZ says that Lindsay and Edmunds have a Fairtrade organic Easter egg available, however I cannot find it at their online store. Perhaps give them a ring if you’re keen on this one.
(1) Cadbury
The Cadbury Facebook admin told me that Cadbury has just released a 65g Fairtrade Certified Cadbury Dairy Milk milk chocolate egg for $3.99. This is apparently very new, as I had previously rung-up the customer info line and they didn’t know anything about Fairtrade Easter eggs.
There’s nothing on the Cadbury website about it, but FTAANZ says that it’s available at selected Target, Big W, IGA, Priceline and Petrol & Convenience stores. In New Zealand the Fairtrade Certified Cadbury Dairy Milk Easter Egg will be available at selected major retail outlets including Countdown, Food town, Woolworths, New World, Pack n Save and The Warehouse.
According to their website, they can be found at David Jones, Woolworths/Safeway, Coles, Target, K Mart, and Big W. You can ring them (03) 9455 9000 to find your nearest store.
They also have a listing at Fairly Local, which includes Oxfam Shop, Woolworths, Local and Global (Vic), Sankofa (Vic).
(3) Scarborough Fair
FTAANZ says it is available at Woolworths, Foodtown and Countdown stores and selected New World stores.
(4) Cocolo Easter egg bag
A long list of physical stores known to stock the Cocolo Easter egg bags is available under their listing at Fairly Local. However I’m not seeing it on the Cocolo site, nor this year’s FTAANZ Easter website, so you may wish to ring ahead to the store before making a special trip to get them.

Great list, thanks for compiling it Nadiah!

Great list, although I don’t think Cadbury should be listed there. Although the chocolate may be Fair Trade certified (whatever that means exactly) they are wholly owned by Kraft, who are not known for their fair trade practices – particularly with regards to their coffee lines. If you buy Cadbury you are essentially supporting Kraft and their non-fair-trade approach to coffee farmers.
True, but if you buy, you are telling Kraft/Cadbury that you are supporting FairTrade and they might extend it. It’s a carrot or stick thing. I’d rather the carrot. If you don’t buy they don’t even know you exist and unfortunately they won’t fel the stick. I’d rather send them a positive message, though I wouldn’t buy any of their other chocolate, and it would depend if there were better options elsewhere.
Echo peter’s sentiment – let’s show cadbury that we do care to encourage them to expand their Fair Trade involvement.
I agree with CF in many ways as it is painful to see this sort of green wash going on. If Kraft are abusing their power in the coffee industry (I would love to see the info on that) then they ought not to be marketing one part of their business as Fairtrade while the other does the opposite.
My contrasting thought is that we ought to put our money where ever a multi national labels a product Fairtade and punish them where they don’t i.e. through their coffees. THe hope in this is that the ehtical side will drag the non ethical to the dance floor and some positive fun will be had. The Body Shop founder has this same vision for Lauriel when the bought out Body Shop.
CF, you mention that you are not sure about Fairtrade. It is a system that has been going 20 years now that researches different commodities and their production, works out the fair kilo price so that the farmers (plantation labourers, gold miners etc) receive a “living wage” the set rules in place that co-ops and rarely plantations can conform to to receive that label. They then put in place a constant monitoring of that supply chain from producer to retailer. Any non compliance sees the label removed from their use. It gives we the buyers great assurance that the worker has been paid.
Enough from me
We have lots on info on our web site, the first one mentioned up above this blog

Thanks for all this great info.
I had never thought about fair trade chocolate until hearing about it on ABC radio either.
I live in a small QLD town, hopefully I can buy some fair trade eggs locally as it’s too late to order online. Now I’ll know where to go and what I’m looking for, thanks to this site.
How abouot Tim Costello not wasting so much money on trips and hotels and credit card expenses if he is so worried about child slavery. Check on the eggs at Aldi and IGA if he is so concerned and leave Coles and Wollies and DJ’s alone.
COLES CONDONES CHILD LABOUR
On Saturday, 23 April I went to Coles Loganholme to purchase FAIR TRADE Easter Eggs. I was informed by two staff members (one of whom made a phone call to confirm) that Coles do not purchase Fair Trade Easter Eggs. As a customer I feel appalled that Coles has decided that consumers do not wish to spend the extra money to purchase Fair Trade Easter Eggs. I personally spent $100 elsewhere and I know family and friends did the same. Money that was not spent in Coles supermarkets! I believe that by not making the choice of fair trade eggs available, Coles is condoning child labour.
Hi everyone!
John from Chocolatier Australia here…… its great to get everyones positive feedback in relation to Fairtrade. Just one small point. Coles did buy Fairtrade this Easter. They stocked our two 100g eggs in Milk and Dark and they sold extremely well.
I would suggest that the Coles store at Loganholme may well have sold out. They went into Coles stoes all over the country.
Watch out for our expanded range in Easter 2012.
Cheers
John
Hi John
Thanks for dropping by. I bought my son your box of combined bunnies and eggs this year, and they were delicious
Thanks you for making another Fairtrade option available for us, and best of luck with your future business.
