I find the iPhone app ‘Shop Ethical’ helpful. It’s not really limited to fairtrade, but it does say if a company is fair trade.
It also shows which company owns which and reasons why they’re unethical..
I know it’s not 100% relevant, but thought I’d point it out incase?

Hi Nadiah and everyone else who is interested in sop nut. i would like to mention that i will be selling organic soap nuts, soapparently nut powder and liquid which you don’t need to store in a freezer to preserve them as i have added some nice natural preservative to them) very soon. i am an environmentally friendly stay at home mum of two and i would appreciate anyone who want to support my idea by ordering my organic soap nuts..powder and laundry liquid from me.i am trying to get my website running..hopefully it will be in a few weeks …and seriously any feedback suggestions and ideas on how to promote my soap nuts will be hugely appreciated.

Oh cool, I’m glad my post was useful. I gather that you don’t *have to* make the liquid, but I figure it’s a good idea as it means that you’ll get consistent results across washes. Several months later now and I’m still getting great results. Dear partner’s stinkiest riding clothes need an occasional blast with nappysan, but that was also true even when I was using normal detergent. The freezer cubes are also very convenient; just pop them in a cup of hot water before use to melt and then you’re on your way.

So glad I found this article as I didn’t realise they should be soaked in warm water. Have just been chucking them in the bag in the cold wash. They have still been doing the job but I haven’t had “dirty” clothes as such.
